This new router is equipped with a total of 18 wired connections. This includes sixteen Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10G SFP+ cages, plus a front-panel RJ-45 console port. Housed in the standard white 1U rackmount case typical of all CCR devices, it features integrated dual redundant power supplies for greater reliability and active cooling to maintain optimal operating temperatures.
Internally, the eight-port groups of Gigabit Ethernet are each managed by a dedicated Marvell Amethyst family switch-chip. Every one of these chips is linked to the CPU by an independent 10 Gbps full-duplex connection, a configuration also used for each SFP+ cage. The hardware includes 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 128MB of NAND storage. This design ensures there are no bottlenecks; provided the CPU can manage the processing load, every port is capable of operating at its maximum wire speed.
